League Memo: Friday April 30th, 2021

The Maine Department of Economic and Community Development, in coordination with the Maine CDC, recently published updated Guidelines for Community Sports. Our Board of Directors voted in favor today of amending our league’s Covid-19 plan to align with these guidelines.

Effective Immediately:
All players and coaches will be required to wear face coverings when in team/bench areas, in dugouts, during team meetings, huddles, and mound visits.

Players will be required to wear face coverings when batting. Once a batter reaches base he can remove or lower his face covering until he returns to the dugout.

Catchers will be required to wear coverings while in the field. All other players in the field will not be required to wear a face covering but can still wear one if desired.

Umpires will have the option to be behind the plate or behind the mound. If they are behind the mound and can maintain 6 feet of distance from all players, they will not be required to wear a face covering. If they choose to be behind the plate, a face covering will be required. ·

Spectators are not required to wear a face covering at outdoor events if they are able to maintain 6 feet of distancing.

Parents/Families/Fans: We will be following the new guidelines for spectators and ask that everyone attending Saco/Dayton Little League events adhere to this guideline to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all in attendance. Maintaining six feet of distance between members outside of an individual household is critical.
